The MUSE TIMER project

Time Inference with MUSE in Extragalactic Rings

Welcome to the public webpages of the TIMER survey. TIMER is a research programme being conducted by an international team of experts aiming at establishing when in cosmic history galactic discs became dynamically mature. Discs reach this state when they are dynamically supported by differential rotation and their self-gravity is important. Once discs become dynamically mature, internal secular evolution processes take place and lead the shaping of the galaxy properties.

In parallel, the team is also conducting a number of other studies providing clues to galaxy formation and evolution (check the Science tab).

Time discloses truth.
